This work aims to propose an application of Mahalanobis-Taguchi-System (MTS) method within the Product Design and Development (PDD) process, as an “on-line” inspection system at the end of the manufacturing process. The goal is to introduce an innovative process control system alternative to control charts (both univariate and multivariate control charts). This new method has been validated by an application to a sintering process of a well-known US based industry, which is considered as leader in automotive components manufacturing. This application allows us to describe the advantages of MTS over the traditional methods of Statistical Process Control (SPC).

Abstract
This work aims to propose an application of Mahalanobis-Taguchi-System (MTS) method within the Product Design and Development (PDD) process, as an “on-line” inspection system at the end of the manufacturing process. The goal is to introduce an innovative process control system alternative to control charts (both univariate and multivariate control charts). This new method has been validated by an application to a sintering process of a well-known US based industry, which is considered as leader in automotive components manufacturing. This application allows us to describe the advantages of MTS over the traditional methods of Statistical Process Control (SPC).File | Dimensione | Formato | |
