The ultra wide bandwidth (UWB) technology is one viable candidate for future short-range indoor radio communication systems providing very high bit rate services, low power consumption and accurate positioning capability. In this paper we provide a semi-analytic approach to evaluate the system outage probability for a realistic UWB master-slave system based on UWB DS-CDMA-like system. Only the upstream communication direction is considered but the proposed approach is quite flexible and allows us to easily include realistic path loss models characterizing the environment, power control and the intra system interference due to UWB devices connected to other access points (AP). Upstream outage probability is then used to obtain the UWB network capacity expressed in terms of the number of users that can be served by an AP with a required outage level. The proposed approach has been validated by comparing the semi-analytic data with those obtained from classical Monte Carlo simulation showing results that are in very good agreement.
