Constantly oscillating between socialism and darwinism, the plots of Call of the Wild and White Fang result into an implicit review of the traditional contractualist paradigms of the Modern Age. The temporal simultaneity and spatial proximity relationship between state of nature, civil society and political society, present in these two novels, can be considered an ideal introduction to the analysis of the capitalist society of the early 19th century, encouraged by the hope of an imminent revolutionary advent of socialism, which was, however, made uncertain by the simultaneous danger of oligarchic drift.

Abstract
Constantly oscillating between socialism and darwinism, the plots of Call of the Wild and White Fang result into an implicit review of the traditional contractualist paradigms of the Modern Age. The temporal simultaneity and spatial proximity relationship between state of nature, civil society and political society, present in these two novels, can be considered an ideal introduction to the analysis of the capitalist society of the early 19th century, encouraged by the hope of an imminent revolutionary advent of socialism, which was, however, made uncertain by the simultaneous danger of oligarchic drift.File in questo prodotto:
